Preparations are well underway for the 29th annual Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta this weekend and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office will again be taking extra steps to deal with the throng of expected race fans and other.
While the race brings thousands of visitors to Hall County and provides an economic boost to the area, it also creates significant traffic congestion along Winder Highway near the raceway.
To help manage traffic, the sheriff’s office will implement detours around the venue on Friday and Saturday nights as large crowds exit the raceway. Deputies will also be stationed in the area to direct traffic and assist motorists.
Race-related activities, including practice sessions and qualifying, will take place Wednesday through Saturday, generating heavier-than-normal traffic throughout the remainder of the week.
Motorists traveling along Winder Highway should expect delays and plan accordingly. Officials recommend using alternate routes, particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings when traffic volumes are expected to be at their highest.
