Eviction notice leads to drug charges against Gainesville man

Some days it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed. A Gainesville man ended up in jail on drug charges after sheriff’s deputies went to his home Monday to serve an eviction notice.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

“Brandon Quertez Goss, 31, of Gainesville remains in the Hall County Jail following his arrest Monday, Sept. 11, on drug trafficking and possession charges.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) civil deputies were in the process of serving an eviction notice at an apartment on Lenox Park Drive, and as they were searching for identification for one of the two residents, they spotted what they believed to be illegal narcotics in a small satchel. Investigators with HCSO’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) were then called to the scene.

Investigators confiscated 15 grams of fentanyl, 15 grams of cocaine and an ounce of marijuana from the satchel. They determined Goss was the owner of the satchel and the illegal drugs. He was arrested and charged with felony trafficking of fentanyl, felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

The other person in the apartment was not charged.”
