A judge in Gainesville has ordered that some evidence collected from Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch’s car when he was arrested for DUI earlier this year be excluded when the case goes to trial. The judge ruled that no evidence collected from the sheriff’s car because, he said, it was searched without the necessary warrant. That included two alcoholic beverage cans that had a small amount of liquid still in them.”
In another development Friday, the Hall County Elections Office got what it wanted Friday from a county judge: an extra 15 days to complete the process of verifying the names on a petition to hold a recall election against Sheriff Gerald Couch.
The request had been made Thursday.
