Elderly exploitation; $7K burglary; $9K theft from car; $20K bank account theft

 *Gainesville Police continue to investigate a reported case of exploitation involving a 77-year-old woman. Spokesman Kevin Holbrook says the incident reportedly occurred between April 1 and June 17. He said thus far no charges have been filed but that a caretaker for the woman “allegedly put money in their own account.”

*A residential burglary in the city netted the thief or thieves items valued at $7,070, according to a police department report. It happened between last Thursday and this past Tuesday on Cypress Landing. Police now say there was evidence of “forced entry in a window.” Holbrook wrote in an email. “Appears the subject knew what they were after and how to get in. Took misc items.”

*Police are investigating the reported theft of a suitcase from a car at a Gainesville apartment complex containing items worth more than $9,000. “It was reported to be personal items to include, clothing and image products,” Lt. Holbrook said. The total loss was put at $9,100. The theft was reported earlier this week.

*The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating the reported unauthorized withdrawal of $20,000 from a money market account which was reported Wednesday afternoon. The case has been assigned to a property crimes investigator and no other information was immediately available.
