EHHS football player stabbed; teammate in custody

An East Hall High School (EHHS) football player was recovering Thursday after school officials say a teammate stabbed him with a pair of scissors after practice Wednesday.

Stan Lewis, the Director of Communications and Athletics for the Hall County School District (HCSD), issued the following statement Thursday afternoon:

“Yesterday evening, a physical altercation occurred between two East Hall High School football players after practice.

One of the players grabbed a pair of scissors during the altercation, which resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to the other player. Law enforcement and emergency medical personnel were contacted immediately. The student who used the scissors to cause injury to the other is in custody.

Additionally, he will receive disciplinary consequences in accordance with the district’s student code of conduct.

Violence toward any student or staff member is unacceptable and will be dealt with accordingly by the HCSD.  Because this is an ongoing criminal investigation, all further questions about the incident should be directed to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.”

There was no additional information late Thursday afternoon from the sheriff’s office. “This incident is under active investigation, but we have no details to release at this time,” spokeswoman B.J. Williams said.
