* As early voting continues, the numbers in Georgia are showing higher Democratic turnout. The Secretary of State’s office says the first two days of early voting are showing more than 10,000 Democratic votes than Republican votes. That number includes absentee ballots. The Secretary of State’s election data show that only about one percent of the state’s voters has submitted an absentee ballot or cast an early vote. Early voting continues through May 15, with the Georgia primary set for May 19.
*Crews are steadily working to control south Georgia wildfires. Firefighters made more progress yesterday in Clinch County, where around 40% of a 32,000-acre blaze is now contained. The Highway 82 fire in Brantley County is closer to 30% containment on 22,000 acres.
*An Albany woman lost an ear during recent fight. Albany police say she and another woman were fighting when the other woman bit off her right ear. The alleged biter was arrested at the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital. No word on her condition.
*Waffle House is planning to attract retail shoppers this summer ahead of the World Cup in Atlanta. The AJC reports the “scattered, smothered and fried” restaurant has submitted plans with the city to add a new walk-up merchandise window at its downtown location next to Centennial Olympic Park. The window will sell branded items like vintage tees, “World Famous Hashbrown” shirts and hoodies.
