Veteran Hall County Republican state lawmaker Matt Dubnik today conceded his defeat by his Democratic challenger in Tuesday’s election.
Scott Soracco’s margin of victory was only 131 votes.
“For the past 10 years, I am grateful the people of Hall County have honored me with the opportunity to serve them in the Georgia House of Representatives,” Dubnik said in a social media posting.
“While Tuesday night’s outcome was not what we hoped for, I know God has a plan for my life and what comes next. I am reminded of the words of King Solomon as he wrote in Proverbs chapter three in verses five and six:
“‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.’
“Thank you Hall County for allowing me to pay a little rent to my community.”
Dubnik was among the Republican office holders and would-be office holders in Georgia who got caught up in the Democratic Party “Blue Wave” that swept across the state Tuesday.
