The drought that has its grip on Georgia did not budge in intensity or coverage the past week, the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) reported Thursday. And, according to the Corps of Engineers there was only a slight change in the level of Lake Lanier.
Most of the state, including Hall and surrounding counites, remain “abnormally” dry while the remainder continue “moderately” or “exceptionally” dry, the latter being the most serious designation by the drought monitor. It is confined mostly to counties along and south of a line from Statesboro to Tifton to Bainbridge.
And regarding the level of Lake Lanier, it is down a tenth-of-a-foot to 1065.8 which, by the way, is about 5.3 feet below normal for this time of year.
