Drought loses ground in part of Ga., but not locally; lake level unchanged

The drought’s recent relentless spread in Georgia slowed somewhat this past week but not in our area. Most of the change took place to the south which was impacted more by Hurricane Isaias.

Land affected at every drought level decreased since last Thursday with the amount of the state that’s drought-free increasing from 15 to 35 percent.

The northwestern half of Hall County remains “moderately dry” (Level 1) and the rest of it “abnormally dry.” (Level 0)

And the level of Lake Lanier is unchanged – 1063.7 – from a week ago.
