First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Hall County were up in June and also when compared to a year, according to the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL).
The increases were 12.8 and 25.4 percent respectively.
Statewide, there was 9.1 increase compared to May and a decrease of 6.9 percent over June a year ago.
In the 13-county Georgia Mountains Region, which includes Hall and most other counties in northeast Georgia, the number of applications in June was up 28 percent compared to May and 45.8 percent compared to a year ago.
