Domestic dispute leads to assault, exploitation of elderly charges

A Braselton woman remains in the Hall County Jail charged with a weekend assault on a 79-year-old man. The suspect, Melissa Ann Forrester, 53, and the victim lived in the same residence on Benefield Road.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) were dispatched to the residence just after 10 p.m. Saturday…

When they arrived, they determined the suspect and the victim had been in a physical fight. The initial investigation determined Ms. Forrester had broken the door to the victim’s bedroom in an attempt to gain access to the victim. The fight spilled over to the kitchen area of the residence where Ms. Forrester used a dustpan handle and a chair to assault the victim.

The victim suffered cuts, scrapes and bruises as a result of the assault. Emergency medical personnel treated him at the scene. Ms. Forrester was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Braselton to be treated for abrasions to her face and head. She was transported to the jail after her release from the hospital.

Ms. Forrester was charged with the following offenses:

·         Aggravated assault (FVA) – felony

·         Exploitation of an elderly person (felony)

·         Battery (FVA) – misdemeanor

·         Criminal trespass (FVA) – misdemeanor

Ms. Forrester is currently jailed with no bond.”
