Domestic dispute ends with Gville man’s arrest on nine charges

A 26-year-old Gainesville man is being held on bonds totaling $17,450 following his recent arrest on nine charges growing out of a domestic dispute involving child custody at a South Hall business. This happened on Saturday in the 5800 block of Phil Niekro Boulevard, according to Flowery Branch Police.

“Upon further investigation, officers determined that Adarrius Boyd, 26, of Gainesville, had met with
the mother of his young son for the purpose of a custody exchange,” according to news release. “During the encounter, a dispute escalated, and he assaulted the victim while the child was present.”

“The victim fled the scene in a vehicle,” it goes on to say. (And) as she departed, Boyd threw a bottle toward the vehicle and then pursued her, nearly striking the young child who had been left behind. Several witnesses gave aid to the child until Mr. Boyd returned to the scene and made threats to harm (them).

Boyd then took custody of the boy and left the area a second time before officers arrived.

Officers got arrest warrants in connection with the incident and on Tuesday Gainesville Police arrested him.

He has been charged with:

 Cruelty to Children, Third Degree
 Aggravated Assault (Family Violence Act)
 Abandonment of a Child
 Terroristic Threats/Acts (Family Violence Act)
 Reckless Conduct
 Simple Assault
 Simple Assault
 Terroristic Threats/Acts
The child was not physically injured and has been reunited with his mother.
