Dispute between neighbors ends in drug trafficking charge

A dispute between two neighbors earlier this week ended with one of them being jailed on three drug charges including trafficking in meth, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“On Wednesday morning, March 6, deputies responded to a dispute in progress in the 2000 block of Crow Road. The resident, male, 35, had gone to a neighbor’s house, claiming the other party in the dispute was trying to harm him (male, 35).

Deputies found the other party, Steven Keith Murphy, 37, of Gainesville, outside of the residence (of the 35-year-old man) and took him into custody. They received consent to search his vehicle and located approximately 28 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine, roughly eight Xanax pills and less than one ounce of marijuana.

Deputies arrested Murphy on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a schedule IV drug, both felonies and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

He remained in the Hall County Jail without bond (Friday) morning.”
