A recently deceased K9 veteran of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is getting a send-off worthy of presidents, kings and queens and was the reason for a motorcade of sheriff’s office vehicles you may have seen passing through town Thursday.
K9 Ann was a six-year-old bloodhound who died on Sept. 16 and was taken to the University of Georgia Veterinary Hospital for further medical examination and an autopsy, and she was brought home via that processional. She’ll be cremated at Memorial Park Funeral Home, according to a sheriff’s office spokeswoman, and a service held for her at a later date.
Ann came to the sheriff’s office when she was eight weeks old and had served alongside her handler, Deputy Nick Adams, since April 2021. Prior to that, she served alongside SSgt. Ryan Watson.
During her career, she answered the call on more than 200 “operational deployments,” the sheriff’s office Facebook tribute to her says. “Her remarkable tracking abilities proved instrumental in critical moments, whether locating missing children, bringing disoriented elderly individuals home safely, searching for lost citizens, or tracking wanted suspects.”
