Cumming middle schooler found with gun on campus

FORSYTH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:

“(Tuesday) morning, The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the Administration at Little Mill Middle School that a student possibly had a gun on campus.  Administration had been alerted by a fellow student who reported the incident.

The 14-year-old student was removed from class and searched by a School Resource Officer (SRO). A loaded 9mm pistol was located in the student’s waistband.   The student has been arrested and is being transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center.  No one at the school was injured and the school is secure.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation with the assistance from the Forsyth County School System.  No other students are believed to be involved.

“This is a sobering example of why it is so important to emphasize ‘see something, say something’ to our kids and students as it takes all of us to keep our kids and schools safe, Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a news release issued by his office. “The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has over 50 Deputy Sheriff SRO’s working in our School System.   One or more SRO’s are assigned to every school campus in partnership with our FCSS.”
