Cumming man guilty of murder; tossed victim’s remains into Lanier

A Cumming man has been ordered to spend the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty of killing a Gwinnett County man, dismembering his body and dumping the remains into Lake Lanier.

Samuel Waters, 21, was killed ten years ago. Jeffrey Emerson Moulder, 30, was found guilty by a Gwinnett jury Wednesday, which convicted him of malice murder and felony murder.

Evidence presented at the trial shows Moulder strangled Waters, the father of his ex-wife’s child, in January 2015. Waters’ remains, which prosecutors say were disposed of in several places in Lanier, were never recovered despite an extensive search.

Moulder was given a life without parole sentence.
