The family of a man who died in police custody in Cumming earlier this year is demanding answers about his death.
Robert Powell, 32, of Brooklyn, New York, died while being arrested by Cumming Police on a shoplifting charge in February at a Target store.
Through their attorneys, family members are seeking, among other things, the names of all of the officers who first came in contact with Powell, unedited surveillance video of their actions, and video from the store’s security system.
The GBI was called in, as is routine in such matters, to investigate the incident. GBI Investigates In-Custody Death in Cumming | Georgia Bureau of Investigation
