Credit union burgary suspect arrested

GAINESVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE:

“Gainesville Police arrest Victor Barragan for burglary and criminal trespass of a local Credit Union.

On Friday, April 12th, 2024, just before 7:30 AM, Gainesville Police responded to the 2600 block of Limestone Parkway at MyGeorgia Credit Union in reference to a burglary and criminal trespass that took place just before 4:30 AM. Gainesville Detectives were called to the scene to process evidence and were able to positively identify the suspect, Victor Barragan, by using local business’ surveillance footage and evidence on scene. Mr. Barragan allegedly used a rock to break a window to gain entry into the credit union, causing about $450 in damages. Upon entry, Mr. Barragan began searching through several drawers before exiting the business. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.

Upon further investigation, K9 officers, detectives, and patrol responded to the area of the 2400 block of Lighthouse Manor Drive in attempts to locate Mr. Barragan. Mr. Barragan was located in the area of Lighthouse Manor’s parking lot in a family member’s vehicle and quickly apprehended around 2:45 PM.

Victor Barragan, a 35 year old male from Cartersville, GA was charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and Criminal Trespass. He was transported to the Hall County Jail without further incident.”
