County’s new planning commission plans to hit the ground running

It doesn’t look like the new Hall County Planning Commission (HCPC) which formally takes office Nov. 1 will waste any time getting down to business. The group replaces the planning board that was disbanded by the county commission in January because of allegations of illegal meetings by some members. Commissioners vote to remove three planning commissioners

According to information on the county’s website, it will begin hearing items at its first meeting scheduled for the next day. The submission deadline for items to be heard at this meeting has passed. It was Sept. 4.

How the commission will operate: Variance and conditional use requests will receive final action from the Planning Commission unless appealed. Special use and rezoning requests will be heard by the Planning Commission at a public hearing and forwarded with a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners for final action.
