County seeks residents to serve on Comprehensive Plan stakeholder committees

Hall County is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on one of the six Character Area Stakeholder Committees that will help guide the county’s major Comprehensive Plan updates. Applications are open now through June 26 at hallcounty.org/PublicOutreach.

“These committees will play an important role in the planning process by providing local insight, identifying community priorities and helping shape the vision of Hall County,” Director of Planning and Zoning Katie Ahmed said. “The open application process will help us ensure that Hall County residents are represented through every stage of the Comprehensive Plan update.”

Hall County’s Comprehensive Plan is a long-range planning effort that will help guide the county for the next 20 years, serving as a roadmap for addressing issues, such as land use, transportation, housing, economic development, infrastructure and the overall quality of life. The six different character areas guiding the plan include North Hall, Murrayville/Sardis, Gainesville area, East Hall, Chestnut Mountain/Candler and South Hall.

“Hall County is a diverse community, from the ever-growing South Hall area to the rolling hills and farmland of North Hall,” Ahmed said. “Because each part of the county has unique needs and priorities, our Comprehensive Plan is organized around six distinct character areas rather than the four commission districts. These stakeholder committees will help ensure residents from every area have a voice in shaping the vision and guiding the decisions that will influence Hall County’s future growth.”
