CORRECTION: New poultry instructional facility to be built in Oakwood

(EDITOR’S NOTE: This is a correction to an earlier story that said the facility in question would be built at the Georgia Poultry Lab on Georgia 365. 97.5 Glory FM regrets the error.)

Gainesville’s Carroll Daniel Construction joined University of North Georgia (UNG) faculty and students and community and poultry industry leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Bob Lathem Complex and Abit Massey Poultry Instructional Center. It will be located on the UNG Gainesville Campus in Oakwood.

Designed to support hands-on learning, the facility will provide students with modern instructional spaces that prepare them for careers in Georgia’s thriving poultry industry, according to a Carroll Daniel news release.

It will feature an instructional classroom, laboratory, preparation areas, offices, restrooms, and support spaces. A centerpiece of the project is the equipment area, which is intentionally designed to replicate the operations of a modern poultry processing plant.

Construction is expected to begin in December, with completion expected by the middle of next year.
