The City of Cornelia plans to use a one-million-dollar Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the state for water and sewer improvements in two areas: Garden Gates and Whispering Woods.
The project will benefit 137 persons, 82 percent of them of low-to-moderate income.
The total project cost is one-point-five million and includes a $517,000 match from the city.
The grant is one of 42 totaling $41 million that were recently approved.
