Congressman closing Cumming office; cites ‘threats’

The congressman whose district includes Forsyth and Dawson counties is closing his Cumming office until further notice because of unspecified threats.

Rich McCormick (R-Forsyth County) says he has received “serious threats of violence” against his staff at his office in Cumming.

“I take the safety of my team seriously,” he said in a statement. “We will still be working for you remotely so reach out to my staff if you have any needs.”

McCormick says that he has reported the threats to U.S. Capitol police.

In addition to Forsyth and Dawson, he also represents parts of Cobb, Fulton, Cherokee and Gwinnett counties.

Meanwhile, McCormick Tuesday was successful in pushing through Congress a censure of a House member because of statements she has made in response to the Israeli-Hamas war. House votes to censure Rep. Tlaib over Israel-Hamas rhetoric in stunning rebuke – SRN News
