Con artists steal thousands from Cumming couple

Con artists recently stole $32,000 from a Cumming couple’s bank accounts after getting their authentication code.

Debra Neal told WSB-TV she got a call from someone claiming to be with Fidelity saying her account had been compromised. She and her husband have investment, banking and credit card accounts with Fidelity.

The imposter told her they needed the six-digit code to confirm her identity and once she gave it to them, the money started disappearing. Neal says everything looked and sounded legitimate.

Despite that, Fidelty says you should never, ever give out your security codes over the phone.
