*Gina Pilcher’s attempt to challenge Tyler Crawford for the District 3 Hall County Commission election in November has failed. Pilcher who was planning to run as an independent did not collect, by the deadline, the required number of signatures on her petition asking that her name be placed on the ballot.
*An alleged thief, who happened to be the roommate of the victim, has been charged with stealing $10,000 worth of items from the complainant. Gainesville police spokeswoman Jessica Van says the victim told investigators her roommate got rid of her belongings while she was gone for less than two weeks. Items missing ranged from furniture to clothing and miscellaneous personal items. Parker Nolette, 30, of Gainesville, was arrested for theft by taking. Lt. Van said the theft reportedly occurred between July 19 and July 24 from a Northside Drive apartment.
