*Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) has placed Police Chief Scott Roberts on administrative leave. According to WALB, officials with the Tifton college have not released a reason for the decision and declined to discuss personnel matters. Roberts has led the department since 2021. The college says day-to-day law enforcement operations on the ABAC campus continue uninterrupted while the matter is handled internally. Authorities have not announced any criminal investigation or provided a timeline for when more information could be released.
*Today’s average price for a gallon of regular gas across Georgia is $4.04, down thirteen cents from yesterday, according to AAA. However, Governor Kemp’s suspended gas tax, which took effect yesterday may take a few days, or even weeks, for the change to reach every gas station in the state. It all depends on when individual outlets receive their next shipment of fuel.
*MARTA is still trying to recover a massive amount of money that was overpaid to a former employee. It’s been five months since a worker received a check for $620,000 more than normal. The agency didn’t catch the clerical error until a few months later. The employee has since left the position, so MARTA recently decided to sue to recover the money.
