Clyde only member of Ga. U S. House delegation not signing letter critical of USPS

Representative Mike Collins (R-Ga.) led a bi-partisan group of Georgia’s U.S. House delegation in sending a letter to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) recently regarding constituent concerns about various issues with mail service facing communities across the state.

The 9th District’s Andrew Clyde (R-Jackson County) was the only member of the delegation not to sign the letter.

One part of the letter reads “Our constituents are taxpayers and customers of USPS. They depend upon the agency to fullfil its mission, and when it does not, to provide top-tier customer service. That’s why we’re concerned by reports from our constituents, including local elected officials, about the failure of USPS to respond to complaints with action – and not just words.”

The letter specifically mentions delayed holiday mail – gifts and letters – and medications and other life-saving products. It was signed by thirteen members of the Georgia delegation—eight Republicans and all five Democrats—and requests a response no later than January 8, 2024.

Clyde’s office in Washington did not respond to an email Thursday asking about the reason he did not sign it.
