Gainesville has announced the 2026 recipients of the city’s You’re the Reason Scholarships. There are 13 of them this year:
*Grand-prize recipient Harrison Tullar took home $2,000.
*Second-place winner Addison Sheppard took home $1,500.
*Receiving $1,000 each were Garrett Matthews, Violet Nosal, Kaylee Trammell, Taylor Reid, Heidi Griffin, Olivia Swafford, Lily Clay, Matelyn Allison, Olivia Morris, Emma Brooke Anderson and Jiya Johnson.
The You’re the Reason Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by city employees who contribute annually to the Community Trust Fund, which enables the city to offer the scholarships. They are available to graduating seniors who have one or both parents employed by the city. Eligible students must be planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution in the fall.
Scholarship funding comes from both the Community Trust Fund and sponsors of the annual Gainesville Chicken Festival. The scholarship is administered by the North Georgia Community Foundation.
