“The City of Gainesville will observe the Christmas holiday Tuesday (Christmas Eve), Dec. 24-Wednesday (Christmas Day), Dec. 25, resulting in unavailability of the following facilities and services:
All administrative offices, including those at the:
- Gainesville Administration Building
- Gainesville Community and Economic Development Building
- Gainesville Public Safety Complex (Gainesville Police Department + Gainesville Fire Department)
- Gainesville Water Resources Building (Queen City Parkway)
- Gainesville Civic Center (Gainesville Parks & Recreation), etc. (Frances Meadows Aquatics & Fitness Center will be closed)
Gainesville-Hall County Community Service Center, including:
- Meals on Wheels
- Senior Life Center
- Fingerprinting services
Transportation, including:
- WeGo
Garbage and recycling
- No garbage or recycling will be picked up Tuesday (Christmas Eve), Dec. 24-Wednesday (Christmas Day), Dec. 25. Tuesday and Wednesday customers should put their garbage and recycling curbside by no later than 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, for collection. Thursday customers should put their garbage and recycling curbside by no later than 6:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, for collection.
Leaf collection
- Curbside leaf collection service will be unavailable Tuesday (Christmas Eve), Dec. 24-Wednesday (Christmas Day), Dec. 25. Zone 1 will be serviced Monday, Jan. 6, 2025-Friday, Jan. 10, 2025. Zone 2 will be serviced Monday, Dec. 23, and Thursday, Dec. 26-Friday, Dec. 27. The City will return to business as usual Thursday, Dec. 26.

****HALL COUNTY NEWS RELEASE:
“This is a reminder that Hall County’s administrative offices, community centers, courts, libraries, landfill and recycling center, as well as the Hall County Government Family Health Center will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday.
Hall County compactor sites will offer limited hours from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will close on Christmas Day.
Hall County library branches will be closed Dec. 24 through Dec. 26 and will reopen for regular business hours on Friday, Dec. 27.
Additionally, the Hall County UGA Extension Office on Crescent Drive will be closed Dec. 24 through Dec. 26 and will reopen for regular business hours on Friday, Dec. 27.
Essential public safety and public works personnel will continue service as usual during the holiday.
As a reminder, many services are available online, including the renewal of vehicle tags, payment of taxes, finding adoptable pets and more.”
