The Gainesville Mayor and City Council gave final approval Tuesday night to the planned massive redevelopment of Lakeshore Mall.
Rusty Ligon, the city’s Community & Economic Development Director, confirmed the action Wednesday morning. He said the vote was unanimous.
The planning and appeals board had recommended approval of the rezoning necessary for the project last month. The city council vote Tuesday night was the final step in the process. The developers have said they hope to begin work on the transformation late this year.
