*Peckerwood Country Club is this year’s Gainesville Chicken Festival Grand Champion. A panel of judges ranked Peckerwood as the top cook team based alone on its “culinary creations.”
*A month after the event, the final numbers are in on just how much trash was collected in and around Lake Lanier during this year’s Shore Sweep: 85 tons, or 170,000 pounds, according to the sponsoring organization, the Lake Lanier Association. This was the 36th annual Shore Sweep.
