Buford City Schools are on a soft lockdown following a social media threat that was made this morning against the district. Georgia News Network and Atlanta News First report a suspect is in custody. Gwinnett County Police have increased patrols in the area.
A statement issued by the Buford City School System says “Buford City Schools was made aware of a social media post on November 14, 2023, regarding Buford High School. The suspect was identified and is in custody. All Buford City School System schools are operating under a soft lockdown protocol for added security. Gwinnett County Police Department is patrolling the area to keep students and staff safe throughout the day. We are deeply troubled by the acts of this individual. We do not condone threats of any kind, even if the intent was not to do harm. We appreciate the hard work of our Administrators, SROs and GCPD as they continue to keep Buford safe.“
