Buford: Armed man confronts restaurant employees

A man armed with an AR-15 confronted employees of two Buford area Waffle House restaurants early Friday but nobody was hurt.

Gwinnett County Police say Rushabh Shah, 32, walked into one restaurant on Buford Drive around 2:30 and pointed the gun at workers.

At another Waffle House, this one near the Mall of Georgia, employees told police he had walked up to that location with a rifle just minutes earlier. Police arrested Shah at that restaurant.

WSB-TV reports Shah told police he needed the gun for protection from potential gang members.

He’s been charged with aggravated assault.
