FRIDAY POLICE BLOTTER: Battery thief; cabbie reportedly robs fare

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a battery thief that struck in the East Hall area recently.

“𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗢 𝗕𝗢𝗟𝗢 – Investigators need your help identifying the suspect in the video who stole a vehicle battery from a yard in the 4600 block of Ga. 323/Gillsville Highway. *It’s not uncommon to hear about cab drivers being robbed by a fare. But for the cabbie to rob the fare? Well, it appears it happened in Gainesville recently, according to Gainesville Police spokesman Kevin Holbrook. “Altercation between the victim and a taxi driver, the driver reportedly put the victim out of the car, hit him with a closed fist, took $300 cash from him, then left,” Lt. Holbrook wrote in an email. The 25-year-old victim says it happened in the 1100 block of Dawsonville Highway.
