BCSO: Man dead, woman injured in domestic-related incident

One person is dead, and another was being treated for undisclosed injuries Monday, both from undisclosed injuries, in Banks County. The Banks County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) says the incident was domestic in nature and occurred Friday.

“Deputies from the Banks County Sheriff’s Office responded to an active domestic disturbance at an address on Historic Homer Highway,” according to a news release. “Upon arrival, deputies discovered a female victim with injuries to her head. Emergency medical care was immediately administered at the scene.”

While some deputies were tending to the victim, who was not identified, others began a search for the suspect, identified as Edward Countryman, 27, of Homer. Later, deputies located Countryman in a nearby area, unresponsive due to a self-inflicted injury. Life-saving measures were performed, and he was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The female victim was also transported to a medical facility for further care but her condition was not disclosed. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is continuing.
