A Flock camera alert helped Banks County deputies locate a stolen car Thursday, the sheriff’s office reports, leading to the arrest of a man they say had already fled from another agency earlier in the day.
According to a social media post, deputies received the alert as the vehicle traveled through the county and were able to find it and attempt a stop. The driver, identified as Kevin Payne, 40, refused, however, to pull over and a chase began.
During the chase, deputies used a PIT maneuver to bring the car to a stop. Payne, who was also wanted for probation violation, was taken into custody without further incident and faces a number of charges including possession of a stolen vehicle.
The Flock system has come under fire in recent weeks as the number of law enforcement officers fired and arrested in Georgia caught using it for non-law enforcement, personal purposes grows.
