*There was a bit of a scare in Barrow County Sunday morning after a suspicious package was found in front of the Bethlehem Post Office. Sheriff Judd Smith said deputies responded and set up a perimeter around the building. The University of Georgia Bomb Squad also responded, Smith said, and determined that the package was harmless.
*The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest following the investigation into a school-related threat at East Jackson Middle School. A juvenile suspect has been taken into custody and charged with one felony count of Terroristic Threats and Acts, Sheriff Kevin McCook announced Sunday. Although the investigation is ongoing, it appears to be isolated to the one individual. The suspect’s parents have been cooperative with law enforcement, McCook added.
