HALL COUNTY FIRE RESCUE NEWS RELEASE:
“At approximately 4:48 pm (Monday), Hall County Fire Rescue responded to Bennett Road for reports of a barn fire. Witnesses stated that there was a large black plume coming from the area prior to HCFR arrival. First arriving crews discovered a large barn that was fully involved.
Due to the state of the structure and the amount of flames, crews began an exterior attack on the bulk of the fire. The structure was filled with farming equipment, and bales of hay. Aerial operations were utilized by Truck 5 to gain access to the top of the hay bales.
No one was injured on scene and no one was inside the barn at the time the fire broke out.
The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause to be accidental due to a small burn pile that was within 50 feet of the building.
Please use this as a reminder to have a water source with you while burning, and to be at least 50 feet away from any surrounding structures. When applying for the burn permit number of the day please take special notice to the precautions.”
