*Investigators say a growing auto theft case in West Point now involves at least six suspects. What started as reports of stolen car parts and damaged vehicles has expanded into a multi-suspect investigation in Troup County. WTVM reports five people are now under arrest, including suspects accused of theft, burglary and receiving stolen property. A sixth suspect remains at large. Authorities have not released the value of the stolen parts and say the investigation remains active as they work to determine whether additional crimes or suspects may be connected to the case.
*Georgia’s two U.S. senators are divided when it comes to a sports bill pending in Congress that would create national standards for name, image and likeness (NIL) contracts in college sports while also clarifying standards for athletes’ healthcare, academic progress and eligibility. The AJC reports that Jon Ossoff supports the bill, but Raphael Warnock does not.
*A part-time employee of a Tybee Island restaurant is accused of spying on people in two restrooms at the business. Other employees at North Beach Bar and Grill called police a week ago after finding the devices hidden on a shelf and on top of an air freshener. The suspect was arrested on a charge of unlawful eavesdropping. The owner of the restaurant says he’s deeply disturbed and apologized to anyone who may have been affected.
