The Atlanta City Council is discussing two resolutions involving ICE in the city.
Hoping not to get unprepared for any plans by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to locate immigrant detention processing and/or detention centers in Atlanta, the city council is considering a resolution calling for advanced notice of any such plans. Another of the Atlanta resolutions deals with local law enforcement’s roles in aiding ICE when it moves into a city of town.
Law enforcement analyst Arif Halaby tells Atlanta News First that local law enforcement can feel confused about their roles if they’re required to do more than fight crime.
