The Appalachian Regional Port (ARP), the Georgia Ports Authority’s (GPD) rail-connected inland port in northwest Georgia, continued a booming trade in July, handling an all-time high of 4,800 containers up 41 percent or nearly 1,400 containers compared to last July.
There were no numbers for GPA’s $134 million Gainesville Inland Port which opened in May. Customers are visiting the site and planning their network opportunities, the ports authority said Wednesday.
New customers and more business from existing users are powering ARP’s growth, according to the GPA’s latest report. In addition, the facility ended the fiscal year June 30 with a record annual volume of 49,319 containers, up by more than 8,100 or nearly 20 percent over the previous 12 months.
