*An officer with the Hinesville Police Department has resigned instead of getting fired after a controversial traffic stop. Authorities say Officer Todd Parmentier left a disabled veteran and amputee on the side of a highway in April after a traffic stop. Police Chief Tracey Howard says this follows a three-month internal investigation of Parmentier. Howard also says a similar incident happened previously where a driver was left to walk home alone in the dark after an insurance issue during a traffic stop.
*AAA expects the Labor Day holiday rush at the Atlanta airport to include 2.3 million passengers beginning today through next Wednesday. That’s a one-percent increase from last year. The busiest travel day is expected to be this Friday with more than 335,000 passengers moving through the airport.
*The Atlanta Police Department is grieving the loss of one of its own who was killed in a traffic accident Tuesday morning in DeKalb County. Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said Moses Russ, who was a police cadet, was on his way to training when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle.
