Apalachee: Students around Ga. calling for tougher gun laws

UPDATED: 3 P.M. FRIDAY – Hundreds of high school students around Georgia – including some at Gainesville High – protested Friday demanding stricter gun laws.

The protests followed the mass shooting earlier this month at Apalachee High School that left four dead and nine wounded and a number of Apalachee students were among the protesters.

Some students gathered at the state Capitol recently to demand legislative action on gun violence and strengthening the state’s gun laws. The carried signs and attended a Senate committee meeting discussing safe gun storage laws.

High school students in Atlanta are also planning a walkout to push for stronger gun control laws.

Decatur High student Nia Batra telling Atlanta News First some students have had enough. Student Maya Flowers-Glass says the walkouts are also a way for kids to cope.
