Gas prices are up some more this week in Georgia and Hall County, but they are down a bit nationally.
The average price of a gallon of regular, unleaded rose another dime in Gainesville over the past seven days and is at $3.40; statewide, the average moved up seven cents to $3.39.
The national average, however, fell two-cents-a-gallon and is at $3.52 today, according to AAA.
“And while a record 60 million travelers were forecast to hit the highways for the July 4th holiday, the overall demand number for gasoline dropped,” spokesman Andrew Gross said. “That is a rare feat for a holiday week and may point to a change in demand trends.”
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand dipped from 9.42 million barrels-a-day to 9.39 last week.
