Another Atlanta-Charlotte high-speed rail study planned

Another study is planned on the possibility of high-speed rail (HSR) through northeast Georgia connecting Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C. Though the proposed route does not include a stop in Gainesville, Athens would be one of the Georgia stops.

The project got a funding “shot in the arm” recently when the White House and members of Congress announced an allocation of $8.2 billion in for HSR projects and HSR corridor studies around the country.

Studies of HSR connecting Atlanta and Charlottee have been done before but nothing ever came of the findings.
