Animal cruelty; Drug distribution; $1,000 shoplifting; Saturday night fights

*A Gainesville woman was back in jail Sunday morning following her arrest Saturday on charges of not showing up for a court appearance. Deborah Fricks was originally arrested in January after, according to authorities, 23 cats and dogs were found “living in poor conditions” in her home. EARLIER STORY. Deborah Fricks, 62, was released Thursday, according to a sheriff’s office spokeswoman. The charge she’s facing is a misdemeanor. *A 36-year-old man was arrested Saturday on several charges including marijuana distribution. Reginald Richard Robinson is also charged with loitering or prowling and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. He was still in the Hall County Jail Sunday morning.

*Gainesville Police have charged a 22-year-old woman, Shakira Adrianna Jackson, with stealing nearly $1,000 worth of purses in a shoplifting incident at Belk’s. The arrest was made a week ago, but details were not released at the time.

*Six people were arrested early Saturday in what were apparently two separate fights, one of which involved a knife. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office reports that one of the incidents resulted in the jailing of two people, an 18-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man. It occurred in the 4500 block of Callie Downs Drive about 5:00. The woman is charged with Aggravated Assault/Cutting. The other incident involved two 18-year-old women, a 19-year-old man, and an 18-year-old man and happened in the 700 block of Spring Street about 3:00. One of the women is charged with Aggravated Battery.

More information on some of these incidents is not likely to be available until Monday when local law enforcement offices reopen following the weekend.
