Airsoft gun on campus means big trouble for one student

BANKS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:

“On March 6, 2024, the Banks County Sheriff’s Office and the Banks County Board of Education initiated a joint investigation into a report of an incident between two students. A third-party individual reported the incident to school authorities, who contacted the Banks County Sheriff’s Office.

During the investigation, it was discovered that one of the students carried an airsoft pistol in his vehicle on school grounds on  March 4, 2024. After an organized school sporting event that evening, the student presented the air pistol to another student and discharged it into the ground. No injuries were sustained, nor were threats reported.

The school administration has addressed disciplinary action, and our agency charged the student who was possessing the airsoft pistol with carrying a weapon on school property.”
