With the planned opening of the new patient tower at Northeast Georgia Medical Center just two months away, a newly installed traffic signa nearby is scheduled to be activated Tuesday.
It’s located at Downey Boulevard and Enota Avenue.
Designated the Green Tower, the 11-story structure is scheduled to open in February.
Hospital officials announced earlier this year that the various towers on the campus were being rebranded a give “color” designation in a move they hope will make it easier for visitor s to navigate the campus.

EARLIER STORY. PUBLISHED IN SEPTEMBER – Patients and visitors at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville will soon find it easier to navigate the hospital’s campus, thanks to a new color-coded wayfinding system set to launch this fall. Patients and visitors can expect to see the first signage changes inside and outside the hospital starting in October.
Several buildings on the NGMC Gainesville campus will now be tied to a specific color. The current North Patient Tower will be renamed the Blue Tower, the current South Tower will be renamed the Orange Tower and the tower currently being built, which is set to be completed in early 2025, will be named the Green Tower. Additionally, the Women & Children’s Pavilion will be associated with yellow, the area that connects the current North and South Towers will be associated with gray and the Outpatient Building will be associated with purple.
Staff will provide new wayfinding guides at the hospital’s information desks, and you can also find them online at www.nghs.com/gainesville.
