A tale of 2 holiday events: one a ‘go’, the other a ‘no-go’

Rain or shine, Chabad of Hall County, as of Saturday morning, was forging ahead with plans for its menorah lighting in downtown Gainesville Sunday. Chanukah on the Square is scheduled for 4:30. It will feature, among other things, a “giant” menorah lighting, music, food, and crafts. There will be no charge to attend. Meanwhile, Winder officials have pulled the plug on the Saturday’s long planned 75th Christmas parade because of the dismal weather forecast, adding that the logistics of re-scheduling it would have been too much. Instead, they’re planning a substitute event, Santa’s After Party!, next Friday night at Jug Tavern Park from 6:00-10:00, featuring a ceremonial tree lighting, live music, ice skating, food trucks, free photos with Santa, and more.
