Gville hiking/walking trail closing temporarily; 3 Hall school administrators retiring

*As part of Gainesville Parks & Recreation’s ongoing upgrades to the Midland Greenway, the trail will be closed Monday, Jan. 29-Monday, Feb. 5, from Banks Street to the inclusive playground. The dog park and playground will remain accessible via the High Street entrance to the trail, where parking is also available. Upgrades include a new amphitheater with covered stage and tiered seating, restrooms and lighting, among other improvements. Plans for a major upgrade of the greenway were announced last summer. *Three school administrators in the Hall County School System, with a combined 88 years of service to the system, are planning to retire at the end of the current school year. They are Kristin Finley, Principal of North Hall Middle School, who has been with the school district 26 years; Tamara Etterling, Director of Student Services, who has been with the school system since 1993; Amy Bright, Principal of Flowery Branch Elementary School, a 33-year veteran of the system. School officials announced their retirement plans Friday.
